Fort Bliss PCS Checklist
Use this checklist to stay organized before, during, and after your PCS move to Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas.
Before You Leave
☐ Review orders and verify report date
☐ Contact gaining unit for sponsor information
☐ Schedule HHG pickup at move.mil
☐ Arrange TLE / temporary lodging
☐ Gather 10+ copies of orders
☐ Collect medical and dental records
☐ Verify vehicle registration status
☐ Update DEERS and request new ID cards
Arrival at Fort Bliss
☐ In-process at Replacement Detachment
☐ File travel voucher with Finance
☐ Schedule unit in-processing with S-1
☐ Attend newcomer orientation brief
☐ Complete CIF appointment
☐ Draw TA-50 gear
☐ Locate and visit your unit motor pool
☐ Get familiar with base access and gates
Family & Medical
☐ Register family at WBAMC / TRICARE
☐ Locate nearest pharmacy and medical clinic
☐ Enroll children in school
☐ Schedule child care at CDC if needed
☐ Register with ACS for relocation services
☐ Attend Family Readiness Group meeting
☐ Update emergency contacts with unit
☐ Attend SHARP and EO training briefings
Housing & Utilities
☐ Complete housing application or sign lease
☐ Set up utilities
☐ Schedule internet installation before move-in
☐ Set up appliance delivery appointments
☐ Update mailing address
☐ Confirm trash, water, and electric setup
Texas Setup
☐ Register vehicle with Texas DMV within 30 days
☐ Obtain Texas driver’s license
☐ Update driver’s license address at Texas DPS
☐ Verify insurance coverage in Texas
☐ Learn local commute routes and gate traffic
Pay, Benefits & Admin
☐ Open account at Fort Bliss Credit Union or bank
☐ Establish direct deposit for paycheck
☐ Verify all pay and entitlements are correct
☐ Enroll in SGLI/VGLI life insurance if eligible
☐ File federal and state tax address change
☐ Update leave address in leave system
☐ Schedule physical fitness test baseline
